Yooka-Laylee Review

Fans of retro platformers like Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie have been waiting a long time for this.  It's time for a new buddy duo to enter the ring.  Yooka-Laylee is from the developers of Banjo Kazooie and Tooie as their first game for their new company Playtonic games.  Yooka is a sensible lizard and is partnered with the loud mouthed lady bat Laylee to go on a grand adventure to recover Laylee's stolen book from the evil Capital B.

Pros

  • Beautiful graphics
  • great sound track
  • well designed worlds
  • funny classic dialogue
  • memorable characters
Cons
  • Game can be laggy randomly - This was patched out.
  • Rextro's Arcade games are way too hard boarderline impossible as well as the Karto's challenges
  • No Minimap
The Verdict
Yooka-Laylee is a great way to bring the collectathon platformer back, however it needs some work to fix some of the issues.  The biggest issue being the Rextro and Kartos challenges being boarderline impossible.  However it's a very charming game with tons of humor, great music, and memorable characters.

9.0/10
