OS Battle

There are now 3 major Operating systems battling it out for a spot on your pc.  They all have pros and cons, but which OS is the best?  Let's break the down.

Built in Antivirus
Chrome OS from the start has come with a built in antivirus that is maintenance free and has a 100% success rate to date.  Windows started getting a built in Antivirus with Windows 8, however it's success rate is sub par and still gets viruses regardless of this or any paid antivirus you may install.  Mac OS comes with a firewall, but no antivirus at all and gets viruses really easy regardless.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  Chrome OS takes round 1 because of it's perfect Antivirus.

Packaged office suite
Chrome OS comes preloaded with Google drive.  This provides a word processor, spreadsheet software, and presentation software for free that works both offline and online and automatically saves and stores your files.  Windows does not offer anything above a basic word processor the office suite must be purchased.  Mac includes a free office suite, but does not offer the auto save and auto backup features of Chrome OS.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  Chrome OS takes round 2 because of it's impressive take on an office suite.

Boot Time
Chrome OS boots up in 7 seconds on a low to mid range device and 5 seconds on a high end device.  Windows 8 takes around 19 seconds to boot on a powerful machine and Mac OS takes 55 seconds to boot on a higher end device.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  Chrome cannot be matched on speed.

UI Appeal
Chrome has a beautiful clean UI that Google is always tweaking and improving upon.  Windows' UI has had it's ups and downs.  Arguably the best looking it ever was, was with Vista.  Mac OS has only changed slightly from it's original design many years ago and feels very dated.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  Innovative design that is still easy to use.

Video Editing
Chrome comes with a few basic video editing tools.  Such as the youtube editor and Wevideo.  Windows has some basics as well and supports powerful products such as the Adobe family.  Mac also supports the Adobe family but doesn't come with anything pre-loaded.

Winner:  Windows.  Though Windows and Mac both support the Adobe Suite.  Windows comes with some preloaded software that can get the job done and the Adobe Suite is faster and easier to Use on Windows.  Google's tools are great, but probably not ready to make a blockbuster film with them.

Ease of Use
Chrome OS was built from the ground up to be easy to use.  Windows was easy to use until Windows 8 came along.  This hid a lot of the features that people loved and made it difficult to navigate.  Mac OS has always been harder to use and without a dedicated app launcher requires you to dig through your file system to find your software.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  Chrome is clearly the easiest to use for regular use.

Online Backup
Chrome OS offers 15 gb of free storage on Google Drive.  All your documents are automatically backed up.  It also gives you unlimited photos if they are smaller than 2048x2048.  Along with 50,000 songs.  Any songs you buy from Google do not count towards the limit.  Windows offers 15 gb of Onedrive storage.  Mac gives you 5 gb of online storage for free via iCloud.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  With Google 15 gb can feel unlimited because of all the items that do not count towards your storage.  Onedrive is decent but will fill up quickly.  iCloud is just ridiculously small.

Regular Maintenance
Chrome OS is self cleaning and requires 0 regular maintenance.  Windows requires constant patching, defragmentation, virus scanning,  and more.  Mac also requires lots of maintenance.

Winner:  Chrome OS.  This is the only OS with a 0 maintenance required architecture.

Video Chat
Chrome OS supports Hangouts and other web-based video chat.  Windows supports Skype and web based video chat and Apple supports web based video chat and some downloadable software.

Winner:  Windows.  It has the most options plus Skype is the most widely used video chat software.

Overall:
1st Place - Chrome OS - 7 points
2nd Place - Windows - 2 points
3rd Place - MAC - 0 points

  1. Don’t try to write an essay from beginning to end (especially not in a single sitting). Begin with what you are ready to write - a plan, a few sentences or bullet points. Start with the body and work paragraph by paragraph. http://www.uk.essay-writing-place.com/
