Smash Bros. 4 Coming in 2014

Sakurai has been working hard on the new Smash Bros game for 3DS and Wii U.  He has given some details including the fact that both games are given the same character roster.

"Fundamentally we’re going to have the same characters on both systems. If there was a character you couldn’t play on Wii U but you could play on 3DS, or vice versa, that’s rough for consumers. So we want players to be able to have the same character experiences on both devices."

Both games will have a few exclusive stages, and content tiered towards different types of gamers based on the platform you choose.  Another difference is the graphics.  The Wii U features full HD graphics, and the 3DS features one of my personal favorite art styles known as Cell Shaded graphics.

Sakurai shocked a lot of people with the new characters he announced.  Megaman, which many people have been waiting for.  The Villager, which me and a few others were excited to see, and Wii Fit trainer, which gave everyone a shock and a good laugh.  The returning characters officially announced were no surprise being Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Pit, Samus, Fox, and Bowser.

A few stages were shown in the footage being a battle field stage, Skyloft, the New Hyrule on a train, a new Smash fighting Arena, Nintendogs area, and more.

Sakurai said he plans on a 2014 launch, but says to be patient because these are massive games, and will take quite a while to fully develop.
